CLFW to give out free tickets to Lebanon

(WASHINGTON, DC) — The Christian Lebanese Foundation in the World (CLFW) will award two free tickets to Lebanon during a committee meeting on May 9, 2015 in Washington, DC.

The organization says they give out free tickets annually on Mother’s Day for Lebanese-Americans who successfully registered their marriages or childbirths through CLFW over the past year.

CLFW is an DC-based organization devoted to helping Lebanon maintain a demographic balance by registering Americans of Lebanese descent in their motherland.

Nada Abisamra, director of CLFW, said Lebanese businessman and CLFW Vice President Neemat Frem will join the executive board and members for the lottery.

She adds that those interested in participating in the lottery can do so by joining the Facebook event at this link.

In 2013, Charles Nemer of Ohio and George Korio of California won free tickets. In 2014, Michael Chebat of Virginia and Charles Haddad of Florida enjoyed the free flights.

Abisamra reminds Americans of Lebanese descent that registration is crucial in order to preserve their roots in Lebanon and help the country maintain its diversity.

The organization will host nine campaigns in May in the following cities:

Christian Lebanese Foundation to host 10 registration campaigns in March

(WASHINGTON, DC) — The Christian Lebanese Foundation in the World (CLFW) announced it would host ten registration campaigns for Lebanese citizenship this March.

CLFW says there are many political, business, and social advantages to becoming a Lebanese citizen, including the right to vote in municipal and legislative elections, and the right to own and inherit property.

The organization adds that registration also helps maintain religious pluralism in Lebanon, by protecting minority religions in the country and providing them with equal governmental representation.

“The religious conviviality is the true mission and vocation of our country,” said Nada Abisamra, director of the DC-based organization. “What we need is to get each Lebanese descendant who has the right to be registered in the official registry of Lebanon to do so.”

The Arab American Institute estimates that 3.3 million Americans are of Lebanese descent, and the majority are Christian, including Maronite Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Eastern Catholic.

CLFW hopes to add hundreds of new citizens to Lebanon’s official records in March. They plan to host registration campaigns in 9 cities across the country:

  • Cleveland, Ohio – March 4, 2015 – St. Maron Church – 1245 Carnegie Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44115

Christian Lebanese Foundation in the World hosts nationwide campaign to register Lebanese citizens

(WARREN, MI) — The Christian Lebanese Foundation in the World (CLFW) hosted a nationwide campaign this Sunday to register Lebanese-Americans as citizens. CLFW representatives in Houston, TX, Jacksonville, FL, and Warren, MI distributed promotional material and offered registration assistance to Lebanese-American parishioners nationwide, in an effort to increase Christian citizenship in the country.

CLFW is a non-profit organization that aims to re-connect Lebanese-Americans with their roots, by hosting citizenship drives and promoting civic engagement. This latest effort promises to register individuals and families free-of-charge.

The organization teamed up with the Lebanese Embassy and Consulates, the National Apostolate of Maronites (NAM), and several Lebanese-American organizations and clubs to promote the weekend citizenship drive. According to their Facebook page, those who register are entered into a chance to win free airline tickets to Lebanon.

Nano Rached, the regional coordinator for CLFW says it is particularly important to register because the Christian population in Lebanon “is going down.”

For those living in Metro Detroit, CLFW is hosting another registration opportunity at the Basilica of St. Mary in Livonia on June 22nd starting at 10am.
